Date: Thursday 12th February
Time: 7.00-9.00pm
Tickets: £15.00 + Booking fee
Join us for an intimate evening in the cosy surroundings of Sexton’s Lodge, the historic gatehouse of Sheffield General Cemetery, as we welcome Shirley Baxter and Jean Lees, researchers and authors of A Woman’s Place: Stories of Sheffield’s Victorian Women. Limited to just six guests, this special event offers a rare opportunity to meet the authors in person and hear the stories behind their fascinating book.
Discover the lives of remarkable Victorian women buried in the Cemetery, from trailblazers and campaigners to everyday women whose stories reveal much about the social history of Sheffield. Shirley and Jean will discuss their research process, share insights into uncovering hidden histories, and reflect on what these women’s experiences tell us about the changing roles of women in the 19th century.
Tickets include a signed copy of the book and a couple of glasses of wine to enjoy as you listen. A perfect evening for history lovers, readers and anyone interested in Sheffield’s rich and inspiring past.
